Who would think celebrities and sports icons are buried in New York? They sure are! Westchester County is the "Hollywood" and "World Series" of celebrity graves!
Cemetery staffers are so helpful and welcoming to the many visitors they encounter.
Here are two cemeteries that are a "Must See" to pay your respects.
Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, and Kensico in Valhalla are two I highly recommend seeing.
In depth maps can be found either online, or, in the Office at the respective cemetery.

Here's the entrance to Gate of Heaven.....

Everyone is a fan of Babe Ruth! Leave a little baseball-themed memento, too! Both Yankees and Red Sox fans have! Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Who can forget the classic Billy Martin-George Steinbrenner "moments"?? If you are a Yankees fan, you will never forget! Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

"What's My Line" star Dorothy Kilgallen can be found at Gate of Heaven.

"What's My Line" star "Fred Allen" aka John Sullivan is buried at Gate of Heaven, too!

Jimmy Cagney can be found in the Masoleum part of Gate of Heaven.

Yes, Houdini as in THAT Houdini! Bess Houdini, wife of Harry Houdini is also here at Gate of Heaven. Since Bess was Catholic, her family would not let her be buried in the Jewish cemetery in Queens where her famous husband was buried.

Ever hear of the "Ice Bucket Challenge"? Yankees great Lou Gehrig can be found at Kensico.

Hans Christian Anderson played by Danny Kaye was my all-time favorite movie as a child. Danny invites his fans to take a seat. :) Kensico Cemetery.

You may be able to hear a little Big Band sound as you visit Tommy Dorsey at Kensico.

Before the days of radio and TV, there was Vaudeville! Visit the many greats of their day here at Kensico.

Comedian Soupy Sales is here too at Kensico in the Friar's Club section. :)
